IN: Academy Sports + Outdoors to Open First Location in Lafayette, to Continue U.S. Expansion

Academy Sports + Outdoors plans to open its first location in Lafayette, Ind., this spring. The 60,000-sq.-ft. store will be the outdoor retailer's  fourth location in the state. The company plans to open a total of at least 80 new stores by the end of 2026.

The location will carry a wide assortment of sports and outdoors products. Customers can also take advantage in-store services that will include free assembly on grills and bikes, scope mounting, bore sighting, line winding/spooling, propane exchange and the ability to purchase hunting and fishing licenses, reports Chain Store Age.

Originally founded in 1938 as a family business in Texas, Academy has grown to 268 stores across 18 states.
