Jamison Door Co. of Hagerstown, Md., and its parent company, Italy-based BMP Group, have plans to expand in Washington County by establishing a long-term campus at Mount Aetna Technology Park. The expansion is expected to create up to 250 new jobs by 2030.
"This is a defining moment for Jamison Door Company," Jamison Door President and CEO Dwight Clark said in the release. "After 120 years in Washington County, we are proud to invest in a future that creates opportunity for our employees, delivers greater value to our customers, and supports continued growth for our community."
Jamison Door/BMP will be the first business to locate in the Mount Aetna Technology Park. The company has been a Washington County manufacturer since 1906.
The initial phase for the campus involves buying 58 acres at the tech park and investing $35 million to $50 million to build a state-of-the-art, 355,000-square-foot manufacturing facility, according to a company release. The total investment is estimated at $65 million, according to a Washington County document about economic development incentives for the project.
"The project represents the first phase of a long-term campus development that will ultimately bring BMP Group operations together in one location. This initial phase will establish a state-of-the-art production center, with additional phases planned to develop the site into a full BMP Group campus in the years ahead," the release states.
The company's local expansion "will create up to 250 high-quality, long-term jobs by 2030," the release states.
Courtney Metzger, spokesperson for Jamison Doors, said the plan is to consolidate most of Jamison's North American operations at the tech park campus and move some of the European operations there as well.
"Bringing BMP Group operations together into a single modern manufacturing environment will enhance operational efficiency, collaboration and scalability for years to come," the company release states. "While the first phase of development will utilize approximately half of the 58-acre property for the new manufacturing facility, future phases will continue to build out the remaining land with the long-term vision of establishing a comprehensive BMP Group campus that brings additional operations and teams together in a unified environment designed for collaboration, efficiency, and continued innovation."
