MD: Kratos to Open Hypersonic System Manufacturing Facility in Somerset County

Jan 19, 2026

Kratos, a leading national security solutions provider, has selected Somerset County, Md., for its new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility. The company, which also has a presence in Glen Burnie, announced the new 55,000 square-foot space will enhance the company’s launch operations and hypersonic testing for the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, and more.

“The new facility enables us to increase production capacity, streamline payload integration processes, and respond even more rapidly to the growing demand for affordable hypersonic flight testing,” said Dave Carter, president of Kratos Defense & Rocket Support Services Division. “The Princess Anne facility will play a crucial role in supporting our $1.4 billion MACH-TB 2.0 contract and other critical programs, enabling increased test cadence and more affordable flight test opportunities for hypersonic technologies.”

Kratos strategically chose the Eastern Shore site due to its proximity to the NASA Wallops Flight Facility, making it a logistical and operational winner. The company is expected to create new highly-skilled jobs on the shore as it ramps up operations.

“We are thrilled that Kratos will be locating to the Princess Anne Industrial Park.” said Danny Thompson, executive director of the Somerset County Economic Development Commission. “The collaboration efforts between Kratos, the Town of Princess Anne, and Somerset County EDC continues to foster expansion in the aerospace engineering field and provide job retention and economic growth.”

With the Princess Anne Industrial Park filling up quickly, economic development leaders are planning an additional park nearby. Somerset County hopes to break ground on that project this year.
