Amazon says its new 430,000-square-foot office space in the new Harbor Way park in Boston's Seaport district will house more than 2,000 employees.

Amazon says its new 430,000-square-foot office space in the new Harbor Way park in Boston's Seaport district will house more than 2,000 employees, working across the Amazon Alexa, Amazon Pharmacy, Amazon Web Services, and Amazon devices business units, reports Chain Store Age.

The building features new office space, innovation labs, and mixed-use common areas. Amazon is partnering with UMass Boston to help provide students and graduates with access to jobs in technology-related fields at both Amazon and other tech companies, says CSA. More than 1,000 tech and corporate roles are currently available at Amazon’s Boston Tech Hub.

The publication says Amazon is also leasing a new 17-story office tower in the 33-acre Boston Seaport project. The 630,000-square-foot location will include working space, innovation labs, and mixed-use common areas for employees. Slated to be completed in 2024, the location will also feature a community dog park, ground-floor retail space, and a new performing arts center. The facility will add new office space for teams working in Alexa, AWS, and Amazon Pharmacy.

Amazon is also reportedly expanding its Massachusetts fulfillment infrastructure, both in Boston and north of the city, reports Chain Store Age.

“We’ve created more than 4,500 corporate and tech jobs at our Boston Tech Hub, and we’re excited to welcome 2,000 of these employees to their new office,” said Rohit Prasad, senior VP and head scientist for Amazon Alexa. “Our teams in the Boston area are working on exciting innovations for our global customers—from artificial intelligence and machine learning to cloud computing and robotics engineering. We’d like to thank the city of Boston, and Massachusetts, for giving us the opportunity to build the future here. We look forward to continuing to invest and create more jobs across the Commonwealth.”

“Boston is a global hub of innovation,” said Jeremy Sclar, chairman and CEO of project developer WS Development. “And we are thrilled to join Amazon in celebrating the opening of their new office in Seaport, as well as their deep commitment to bringing jobs and opportunity to our city.”
