Greater Muskegon Economic Development (GMED) is pleased to announce two major expansion projects by GE Aerospace in Muskegon and Norton Shores, representing a combined $75 million investment and the creation of up to 160 new jobs over the next two years. These projects strengthen GE Aerospace’s manufacturing capabilities across both aerospace and defense markets while reinforcing Muskegon County’s role as a critical hub for advanced manufacturing.
“We appreciate the ongoing partnerships with the City of Muskegon and the City of Norton Shores as we expand our Muskegon County footprint and employment,” said Curtis Evans, HR Manager, GE Aerospace Muskegon.
At 2034 Latimer Drive in Muskegon, GE Aerospace plans to construct a 20,000-square-foot addition to enhance shipping and receiving operations and expand manufacturing floor space to meet growing customer demand. The project will retain 331 existing jobs and add 90 new positions within two years. The expansion is expected to be completed by October 2027.
“GE Aerospace’s continued investment in Muskegon speaks volumes about the strength of our workforce and the confidence global manufacturers have in this community,” said Jocelyn Hines, Economic Development Analyst, City of Muskegon. “This expansion not only supports innovation and growth but also creates meaningful, high-quality jobs that will benefit Muskegon for years to come.”
GE Aerospace will also expand its facility at 6060 Norton Center Drive in Norton Shores, with a 16,000-square-foot addition supporting the company’s continued growth in the aerospace and defense markets. This project is expected to create 70 new jobs within the next two years and be completed by February 2027.
“The City of Norton Shores welcomes $7.2 million in capital investment and the addition of 70 new skilled jobs to the local workforce,” said Anthony Chandler, City Administrator, City of Norton Shores.
“GE Aerospace’s continued expansion is a strong vote of confidence in Muskegon County and our manufacturing workforce,” said Trevor Friedeberg, President & CEO, Greater Muskegon Economic Development. “Supporting the growth of existing employers like GE Aerospace is central to GMED’s mission, and these investments reinforce our role as a long-term home for advanced aerospace and defense manufacturing.”
