MI: Koops Automation Systems Completes Factory Addition in Holland, to Add 24 New Jobs

Jun 12, 2025

Koops Automation Systems of Holland, Mich., recently completed a 15,000-square-foot addition to its 58,000-square-foot machining and fabrication center and plans to add 24 new jobs. The expansion will increase production capacity for the automation systems manufacturer.

The $2 million project’s cost will be offset by an industrial facilities tax exemption valued at nearly $350,000 over 12 years, reports MLive. The company worked with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, Lakeshore Advantage and the city of Holland to get the abatements approved.

Koops specializes in factory automation systems for a variety of industries, including automotive, aerospace, medical, transportation, construction, furniture and pharmaceutical.

With this expansion, Koops also is hiring to fill 24 new jobs. Open roles include project managers, electrical and mechanical engineers, assembly workers and skilled tradespeople.

In the summer of 2023, Koops opened its fourth building at the Productions Place campus, adding 45,000 square feet of manufacturing space.

Founded in Holland by Wesley Koops in 1989, Koops Automation Systems also has facilities in Saginaw, Greenville, S.C., and Irapuato, Mexico. David Jessup, Koops vice president of infrastructure and systems, said the company is preparing to move its South Carolina operations from a 45,000-square-foot facility, which it has leased since 2013, to an 80,000-square-foot, company-owned facility later this summer.

The move will increase Koops’ capacity to serve more manufacturers and expand its presence in industries such as automotive, life sciences and aerospace.
