The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) is awarding three projects $2.86 million for infrastructure development from the Transportation Economic Development Infrastructure (TEDI) program.
The TEDI program was created to finance infrastructure projects that create economic development opportunities, jobs, and improve statewide transportation systems.
“Creating and retaining over 560 jobs is no small feat,” said DEED Commissioner Steve Grove. “These infrastructure investments are a powerful way that DEED helps bring more business to Minnesota.” Details on individual projects as follows:
Mankato — $1,100,000
Multiple trucking related businesses are committed to developing on a 73 acres adjacent to Highway 14. This funding will assist in extending Adams St. east of County Road 12 to provide access for development. The project is expected to create or retain 154 full-time jobs.
Minneapolis — $1,000,000
Minneapolis is redeveloping 48 acres of riverfront land as part of the Upper Harbor Terminal Redevelopment Project. These funds would assist in the realignment and reconstruction of Dowling Avenue, which will be the main entrance to the project. The proposal speculates that as many as 359 jobs will be created in five years as part of this project.
Sherburne County — $761,669
Sherburne County is adding a Google Data Center to Becker Business Park. This project would assist in the reconstruction and expansion of County Road 53 in order to provide improved access to the park for the new center. This project is expected to create 50 jobs.
