16 May, 2019
Social enterprise technology company PeopleShores is adding 175 new jobs at its facility in Clarksdale. The company, which located to Clarksdale in January, initially created 25 jobs and plans to invest an additional $500,000 in the operations through 2020.
"PeopleShores' mission to provide gainful employment to individuals in the Mississippi Delta will have a significant impact on those who fill the jobs and their families, while also fostering more vibrant communities throughout the region for generations to come. I commend PeopleShores for its initiative to transform rural communities through job creation," Gov. Phil Bryant said.
Silicon Valley-based PeopleShores provides digital transformation and business process management services such as robotics process automation, artificial intelligence machine learning, customer experience management and image processing to large corporations. The goal of PeopleShores is to provide job opportunities with promising career paths to disconnected young adults and members of the community by developing, honing and enhancing their professional skills and offering them gainful employment. The company partners with new and emerging technology companies, such as Automation Anywhere, to streamline business processes for its clients, which include FedEx and Microsoft.
“PeopleShores, a public benefits corporation, is very excited to be a part of the revitalization of Clarksdale and the Delta region. Our journey so far has been very gratifying. Our employees have surprised us pleasantly with their ability to grasp high-tech skills and deliver high-quality work. Their commitment and professionalism are commendable. PeopleShores is grateful to Gov. Phil Bryant, the Mississippi Development Authority and local city and county administration for the confidence they express in us,” said PeopleShores Executive Chairman David Moxam.
The Mississippi Development Authority and the North Delta Planning and Development District are providing assistance for workforce training. Coahoma County provided the company's facility, as well as building and parking lot improvements.
"MDA is glad to support PeopleShores, as the company brings 175 more exciting, high-tech careers to Mississippians in Coahoma County and the Delta region. Technology jobs are in demand, creating abundant opportunities for the workforce of tomorrow," said MDA Executive Director Glenn McCullough, Jr. "We salute the teams at the Clarksdale/Coahoma County Chamber of Commerce, Coahoma County and the North Delta Planning and Development District for their effective teamwork with MDA, which was instrumental in bringing so many new career opportunities to the Mississippi Delta."
“We are grateful to PeopleShores for locating their second U.S. center in Clarksdale," said Jon Levingston, executive director of the Clarksdale/Coahoma County Chamber of Commerce. "They believe in our community and are proving that, with appropriate training, sophisticated digital transformational services, such as building software robots, can be performed successfully by the workforce of rural Mississippi Delta,” said Jon Levingston, executive director of the Clarksdale/Coahoma County Chamber of Commerce.
