MO: Enhanced Enterprise Zone Designation Granted to St. James

Jan 03, 2010

The Missouri Department of Economic Development (DED) has announced approval of Enhanced Enterprise Zone (EEZ) designation for the city of St. James. This designation will allow city officials to continue to move forward with economic development efforts.

Awarding this EEZ designation to St. James is evidence of DED’s continued commitment to working with communities to create new opportunities that will transform Missouri’s economy for the future,” DED Interim Director Katie Steele Danner said. “The Enhanced Enterprise Zone Program has proven to be a successful tool and DED is pleased to utilize it to assist St. James’ economic development efforts.”

The Enhanced Enterprise Zone program was implemented in 2004. Enhanced enterprise zones are specified geographic areas designated by local governments and certified by the Department of Economic Development. Zone designation is based on certain demographic criteria, the potential to create sustainable jobs in a targeted industry and a demonstrated impact on local cluster development.
