Amazon recently opened a new last-mile delivery station in Omaha, and the retail giant has plans to open three additional facilities in Gering, North Platte and Columbus by late fall 2025. The new facilities are expected to create more than 300 full- and part-time jobs.
"This is great news for customers across the state of Nebraska, as they will receive faster delivery for their packages," said Amazon Economic Development Manager Jason Vangalis. He also noted the job growth in Omaha, Gering, Columbus, and North Platte.
The expansion is part of Amazon's broader investment in improving delivery speeds in smaller communities across the U.S. The company has invested $1.3 billion in Nebraska since 2010, creating over 3,500 full- and part-time jobs.
Delivery stations are a key part of Amazon's order process, speeding up deliveries by facilitating the last mile. Packages are transported to delivery stations from Amazon Fulfillment and Sortation Centers, loaded into delivery vehicles, and then delivered to customers.
