Family-owned packaging firm Josh Packaging is expanding in Hauppauge, N.Y., with plans to acquire and renovate a 32,340-square-foot industrial building on 2.08 acres. The $9.2 million expansion project, with economic incentives from the Suffolk County Industrial Development Agency, will nearly double the company’s Long Island footprint.
The company supplies custom packaging solutions for all kinds of food and household products. Its client list has grown to include well-known brands such as Walmart, Target, Ahold Delhaize, Stop & Shop, CVS and many more. Josh Packaging will be growing its Long Island footprint to more than 69,500 square feet and is expected to create 10 full-time jobs, while retaining the company’s existing 68 full-time employees.
Founded in Brooklyn in 1993 by Iranian immigrant cousins Abe Golshirazian and Nejat Rahmani, the company started out with a single machine in a 1,200-square-foot space and later moved to a warehouse in Oceanside where it expanded into printed plastic packaging.
Towards the end of 2007, Josh Packaging purchased a 37,275-square-foot industrial building at 245 Marcus Ave. in Hauppauge from Premier Store Fixtures to further expand its operations. Eight years later, Golshirazian’s two youngest sons joined the company, and in 2021, Rahmani’s son and Golshirazian’s two older sons also came on board.
“What is best for the company, its employees, its customers, and the founding family is to stay in Hauppauge,” Golshirazian said in the statement. “We are thrilled the IDA’s assistance made the decision to stay here in Suffolk County possible.”
Renovations on the company’s new Hauppauge property are expected to begin in September and be completed by the end of 2027, reports Long Island Business News.
“Josh Packaging’s acquisition and renovation of 135 Ricefield and the renovation of its existing facility at 245 Marcus Blvd. will bring significant investment with the company’s longstanding local contractors and vendors,” Kelly Murphy, Suffolk IDA’s executive director, said in the statement. “This project reflects Suffolk County’s commitment to creating and retaining high quality manufacturing jobs in our region, and Josh’s decision to remain and expand in Hauppauge underscores the strength of our advanced manufacturing ecosystem.”
