Wegmans supermarket has begun hiring for its first store on Long Island, which is scheduled to open in early 2025 in Lake Grove, N.Y. The company is expected to hire approximately 500 full-time and part-time positions.
Demolition on the Lake Grove site began in November after Wegmans secured the last of its permitting approvals, reports Greater Long Island. The location will be a 100,000-square-foot store.
“The company has a reputation that will bring folks near and far into Lake Grove to do their shopping,” Mayor Robert Scottaline said in April 2022, when the chain announced its expansion into Long Island.
Wegmans’ planned arrival on Long Island follows the opening of stores in Brooklyn and Manhattan. Wegmans operates 110 stores in eight states and has more than 53,000 employees.
