AZ: MO: NJ: NC: Target to Open Six New Stores in May, Creating At Least 870 Jobs

Apr 21, 2026

Retail giant Target will open six new stores this May in Arizona, Missouri, New Jersey and North Carolina — part of more than 30 planned for 2026. Each is designed to deliver Target’s elevated guest experience and differentiated style, design and value; leverage tech for more personalized, joyful shopping; and strengthen its team and community with good-paying jobs. The six new stores are expected to hire a total of at least 870 employees.

Fueling this next chapter of growth: our $5 billion capital investment plan for 2026, which will help support not only our new stores but also more than 130 remodels, alongside an investment of hundreds of millions of dollars in additional store payroll and training to improve guest service.

These six stores are the latest examples of the more than 300 we are on track to build by 2035. Five of these newest stores top our 125,000-square-foot chain average as we lean into larger footprints. And we’ve got so much more to offer, with on-trend newness and everyday essentials that provide high quality at an incredible value, whether guests are shopping our aisles or using our same-day services like Drive Up, Order Pickup or same-day delivery with Target Circle 360.

With every grand opening, as we get closer to more consumers, we also improve our ability to deliver what guests need, when and where they need it. That's because our stores serve as both shopping destinations and micro-fulfillment hubs. Fun fact: Our stores fulfill 95% of our digital orders, including same-day delivery service with Target Circle 360, which currently reaches 80% of the U.S. population.

Then there’s the people part: Each addition to our 2,000-plus store network provides rewarding jobs whether team members stay with us for a season or a long-term career. We have long invested in our teams, with a starting wage range of $15 to $24 per hour (depending on the role and location), competitive benefits and tuition-free education assistance. We’re also extending Target’s culture of care into the communities we serve to support local needs. This includes investing more than 84,500 hours of community service and more than $35.6 million in product and cash donations last year in Arizona, Missouri, New Jersey and North Carolina.

“Our continued commitment to opening new stores is really about showing up for our guests and our communities — and it starts with our incredible store team members," said Chief Stores Officer Adrienne Costanzo, who started her Target career 20 years ago at T-108 in Evansville, Indiana. "These new stores give our teams the tools and environments to bring our merchandising strengths to life, create easier and more inspiring shopping experiences, and use technology to move smarter and faster every day. It’s how we keep growing thoughtfully, stay connected to our communities and make Target an even better place to work and shop.”

Add our wide assortment of national and owned brands, and we’re on track to help all families discover the joy of everyday life.
