DEHN, Inc., the U.S. subsidiary of DEHN SE, a family-owned electrical engineering company based in Neumarkt, Germany, celebrated the grand opening of its manufacturing facility at Merino Mill in Mooresville recently. This official ribbon-cutting came a year and five months after the company first announced its selection of Iredell County as the location for its new United States headquarters and took place in the same location. The company will invest $38.6 million in the project which will bring production, research, and training capabilities to the headquarters site as well as create 195 jobs.
With its comprehensive product portfolio, DEHN addresses major trends in its industry, from e-mobility and renewables to the protection of critical infrastructure. The company offers solutions and services for lightning and surge protection as well as safety equipment. The company holds more than 1,100 patents, cementing its reputation as a leading innovator in the fields it covers. The company’s project in Mooresville will establish a U.S. headquarters and production facility to manufacture components for a wide range of products. The R&D unit will develop new products for the U.S. market and explore research collaborations with universities in the United States.
Attendees of the event included Ingo Rutenberg, CEO for DEHN USA and Philipp Dehn, CEO of DEHN Group, Mayor Chris Carney, Town of Mooresville, and Melissa Neader, Vice-Chair, Iredell County Commissioners, and DEHN executive leadership and distinguished guests from Germany as well as other Iredell County business and community leaders.
“It’s really nice to be here just a year and a couple of months after our initial announcement, standing in the same space,” Rutenberg remarked. “We have had immense support here from the state of North Carolina, Iredell County, and the Town on Mooresville; at all layers, the support has been fantastic. We are very, very happy that we have landed here and to be able to finally say that we are home.
“Thank you for choosing Mooresville,” Mayor Carney replied. “We love this town, and we’re so glad you’ve been able to witness what a great place it is. We do think we stand out when you check out everywhere you could go in this country. We also believe our partnership with Iredell County really makes a difference, and the goal for our staff at the town is to make it very easy to choose us. Now, we not only want to see your company grow but see this expansion as the best decision you’ve ever made.”
“What I see here today is impressive,” Commissioner Neader shared. “I am very proud to be here today, to work with Iredell Economic Development, to work with the Town of Mooresville. We just never know what our next opportunity is going to be and to open the doors of a German company right here in Mooresville, who would have thought. I’m so proud to have the opportunity to welcome DEHN here today.”
An official groundbreaking ceremony for the manufacturing facility in Mooresville Business Park East will be announced in the near future.
“DEHN has been an incredible company to work with over the past several years. On behalf of the South Iredell Community Development Corporation, we are excited to work with them on the next phase of their expansion in Mooresville and building their US Headquarters in the Mooresville Business Park East,” said Jenn Bosser, President & CEO, Iredell County Economic Development Corporation.
