NC: Electric Vehicle Charging Solutions Maker Announces 205 Jobs, $4.2M Investment in Huntersville

Atom Power, a North Carolina-based electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions manufacturer, has announced it will invest $4.2 million to expand its manufacturing facility in Huntersville, North Carolina, creating 205 jobs in Mecklenburg County. The expansion will house Atom Power’s corporate headquarters, R&D, manufacturing and support functions, allowing the company to efficiently bring its solid-state circuit breakers for EVs to market.

“Atom Power’s decision to expand in North Carolina reiterates the fact that North Carolina is not only a top state for business but a leader in the EV and clean energy space,” said Christopher Chung, CEO of the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina (EDPNC). “We are proud that a homegrown company like Atom Power has achieved such success that they are able to expand to offer more innovative solutions and to bolster the EV supply chain in the state, the Southeast and throughout the country.”

Atom Power was founded in 2014 in Charlotte, North Carolina, and is headquartered in Huntersville. The company has developed the world’s first and only UL-listed, solid-state circuit breaker which is being applied to EV charging infrastructures for fleet operators, multi-family residential properties and destination charging. This expansion will increase the company’s current statewide workforce of 88 to 205. While salaries will vary by position, the average wage will be $91,804, which is $10,000 higher than Mecklenburg County’s current average.

Since January 2022, the EDPNC has worked with Duke Energy and Atom Power’s project team, providing numerous real estate searches for nearby sites and buildings in proximity to the company’s current headquarters in Mecklenburg County.
