Dayton manufacturer Techmetals Inc. expects to create 50 full-time jobs thanks to a new state tax credit. The expansion will generate nearly $3.5 million in new annual payroll by Dec. 31, 2031, according to the Ohio Tax Credit Authority.
Techmetals finishes, coats and plates metals and components for durability and for other qualities, supplying components to well-known companies such as Boeing, Airbus, and Delta Air Lines.
The proposed project involves the company building a “Next Generation Coatings Center” to develop new technology for coating missile components in support of current and future defense contracts, according to the state.
The Tax Credit Authority approved a 1.299%, eight-year job creation tax credit for the project, reports the Dayton Daily News. That means for that eight years, Techmetals may claim a 1.3% credit on new Ohio payroll related to the project location.
An Ohio Department of Development spokesman put the value of the credit at $300,000.
Techmetals has steadily expanded in recent years, adding 11,000 square feet to its East Dayton campus in 2023, a 5,000-square-foot building in 2024, and adding 2,400 square feet on its Building 1 last year, reports the Dayton Daily News.
In 2025, Techmetals bought assets and grinding equipment from Threadrite Tool & Manufacturing, 1200 E. First St. And the business last year also bought property at 721 Springfield St., another 200,000 square feet.
In all, the Ohio Tax Credit Authority recently approved tax credits for seven projects that state leaders hope will create 1,221 new jobs and protect 1,089 existing jobs across Ohio.
