OH: Tax Credits Approved; Expected to Create and Retain 2,321 Jobs

Ohio Department of Development Director Mark Kvamme today announced that the Ohio Tax Credit Authority has approved Job Creation and Retention Tax Credits for 16 projects that, if expanded or located in Ohio, are expected to create 1,769 jobs and retain 552 positions.

"We need to move quickly to provide the tools business leaders need to create jobs and grow our workforce," Kvamme said. "These incentives are designed to supply the business community and our local entrepreneurs with the resources needed, so they continue to grow their companies and strengthen their communities."

Applied Energy Technologies and Applied Technologies Inc. have been awarded a 40 percent Job Creation Tax Credit for a seven-year term as a result of the company's expansion in the City of Maumee (Lucas County). The value of the tax credit is estimated at $101,640 over the term, and the company would be required to maintain operations at the project site for 10 years. Advanced Energy Technologies is a leading global provider of solar mounting solutions, and designs, engineers, and manufactures solar mounting solutions for any type of solar installation. This project includes a 43,000-square-foot production facility set up to include light manufacturing, assembly, and distribution capabilities. The $125,000 project is expected to create 46 jobs and retain four positions.

Calisolar Inc. has been awarded a 75 percent Job Creation Tax Credit for a 15-year term as a result of the company's new location in the City of Ontario (Richland County). The value of the tax credit is estimated at $11.7 million over the term, and the company would be required to maintain operations at the project site for 15 years. Calisolar is a company that is vertically integrated with expertise in silicon purification, ingot production, wafering, and cell processing. This project includes the leasing of a 2 million-square-foot facility that was formerly a General Motors facility. The $457 million project is expected to create 831 jobs.

Frank Brunckhorst Company, LLC has been awarded a 50 percent Job Creation Tax Credit for a seven-year term as a result of the company's new project in the City of Columbus (Franklin County). The value of the tax credit is estimated at $277,600 over the term, and the company would be required to maintain operations at the project site for 10 years. Frank Brunckhorst Company, LLC is a privately owned company that distributes a nationally recognized deli meat that is sold through large and small food retail organizations across the country. The more than $20 million project is expected to create 93 jobs.

General Data Company, Inc. has been awarded a 40 percent Job Creation Tax Credit for a five-year term as a result of the company's new location and expansion at a site to be determined in Clermont County. The value of the tax credit is estimated at more than $52,240 over the term, and the company would be required to maintain operations at the project site for eight years. General Data specializes in label and special auto-ID manufacturing, auto-ID systems and hardware, supplies and consumables, and software, focusing on the healthcare industry. This project includes the purchase of a new facility that will house a portion of the company's existing operations and allow for expansion. The $3.1 million project is expected to create 39 jobs and retain 161 positions.

Global Cooling, Inc. has been awarded a 45 percent Job Creation Tax Credit for an eight-year term as a result of the company's expansion in Athens County. The value of the tax credit is estimated at $222,310 over the term, and the company would be required to maintain operations at the project site for 11 years. Global Cooling is a premier developer and manufacturer of Ultra Low Temperature (UTL) laboratory freezers, which use free piston sterling technology. The company primarily services distributors of laboratory equipment. This project includes relocating to a 90,000-square-foot leased facility. The $1.2 million project is expected to create 70 jobs and retain 16 positions.

Hearthmark LLC dba Jarden Home Brands has been awarded a 50 percent Job Creation Tax Credit for an eight-year term as a result of the company's new location at a site to be determined. The value of the tax credit is estimated at more than $280,500 over the term, and the company would be required to maintain operations at the project site for 11 years. Jarden Home Brands is a leading provider of niche consumer products used in and around the house, such as glass canning jars, plastic cutlery, and fire logs that burn more efficiently than wood. This project includes the lease of a 500,000-square-foot facility to house manufacturing and warehousing operations for the company's Pine Mountain brand fire logs. The $8.3 million project is expected to create 100 jobs.

Inland Tarp & Liner, LLC and 1600 North Main, LLC have been awarded a 45 percent Job Creation Tax Credit for a six-year term as a result of the company's new location in the City of Fostoria (Seneca County). The value of the tax credit is estimated at $105,500 over the term, and the company would be required to maintain operations at the project site for nine years. Inland Tarp is a nationwide fabricator and supplier of environmental pond, pit, and lake liners for the containment of water and industrial waste as well as cover products such as hay tarps, grain covers, and fabric building covers. This project includes building renovations and the purchase of an existing facility, machinery, and equipment. The more than $1.3 million project is expected to create 35 jobs.

itelligence, Inc. has been awarded a 55 percent Job Creation Tax Credit for a seven-year term as a result of the company's relocation and expansion in the City of Blue Ash (Hamilton County). The value of the tax credit is estimated at $585,250 over the term, and the company would be required to maintain operations at the project site for 10 years. itelligence focuses on the installation, support, and hosting of SAP systems for mid-market companies with a client base of mainly manufacturing and distribution/warehousing companies. This project includes the construction of a 62,500-square-foot office building with an adjoining 10,150-square-foot data center, which will be used as itelligence's U.S. headquarters and house its software support specialists. The $18 million project is expected to create 45 jobs and retain 120 positions.

Mettler-Toledo Inc. has been awarded a 40 percent Job Creation Tax Credit for a five-year term as a result of the company's expansion in the City of Worthington (Franklin County). The value of the tax credit is estimated at $274,740 over the term, and the company would be required to maintain operations at the project site for eight years. Mettler-Toledo is a global manufacturer and marketer of precision instruments used in laboratory, industrial, and food retailing applications. This project includes a truck-to-rail project and several research and development projects, including a new software development, sensor, and scale project. The $1.2 million project is expected to create 25 jobs and retain 106 positions.

Morris Technologies has been awarded a 50 percent Job Creation Tax Credit for a seven-year term as a result of the company's expansion in the City of Sharonville (Hamilton County). The value of the tax credit is estimated at $405,260 over the term, and the company would be required to maintain operations at the project site for 10 years. Morris Technologies is the largest supplier of direct metal laser sintering parts worldwide, assisting with rapid prototyping, short-run manufacturing, and rapid manufacturing in the medical and engineering fields. This project includes the lease of a 22,686-square-foot facility to serve as its headquarters, research and development, and direct metal laser sintering operations center. The $5.8 million project is expected to create 75 jobs and retain 84 positions.

Polymera, Inc. has been awarded a 45 percent Job Creation Tax Credits for a five-year term as a result of the company's new location in Union Township (Licking County). The value of the tax credit is estimated at $33,550 over the term, and the company would be required to maintain operations at the project site for eight years. Polymera is a manufacturer of wood polymer composite materials, servicing the extrusion, injection molding, and compression molding industries. This project includes the leasing of a 160,000-square-foot facility for manufacturing and to house the company's corporate headquarters and research and development operations. The $5.5 million project is expected to create 25 jobs.

Rhenium Alloys, Inc. has been awarded a 35 percent Job Creation Tax Credit for a six-year term as a result of the company's expansion in the City of North Ridgeville (Lorain County). The value of the tax credit is estimated at $45,800 over the term, and the company would be required to maintain operations at the project site for nine years. Rhenium Alloys is a leading manufacturer of refractory metals and specialty fabricated products. This project includes the renovation of a company owned 66,000-square-foot facility. The $2 million project is expected to create 25 jobs and retain 50 positions.

Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) has been awarded a 60 percent Job Creation Tax Credit for an eight-year term as a result of the company's new location in the City of Beavercreek (Greene County). The value of the tax credit is estimated at $2.87 million over the term, and the company would be required to maintain operations at the project site for 11 years. SAIC is a FORTUNE 500 scientific, engineering, and technology applications company that uses its deep domain knowledge to solve problems of vital importance to the nation and the world in national security, energy, and the environment, critical infrastructure, and health. This project includes the lease of 75,000 square feet of a to-be-constructed 90,000-square-foot facility. The more than $3.5 million project is expected to create 180 jobs.

Science Applications International Corporation has been awarded a 60 percent Job Creation Tax Credit for an eight-year term as a result of the company's expansion in the City of Springfield (Clark County). The value of the tax credit is estimated at $570,500 over the term, and the company would be required to maintain operations at the project site for 11 years. Science Applications International is a FORTUNE 500 scientific, engineering, and technology applications company that uses its deep domain knowledge to solve problems of vital importance to the nation and the world in national security, energy, and the environment, critical infrastructure, and health. This project includes the lease of an additional 10,000 square feet in the Nextedge Applied Research and Technology Park. The more than $1.6 million project is expected to create 35 jobs and retain 11 positions.

Simonton Building Products, Inc. dba Simonton Windows has been awarded a 55 percent Job Creation Tax Credit for an eight-year term as a result of the company's new location in the City of Columbus (Franklin County). The value of the tax credit is estimated at $1.54 million over the term, and the company would be required to maintain operations at the project site for 11 years. Simonton operates as a manufacturer of vinyl windows and patio doors and has incorporated the production of new construction and retrofit vinyl window and door products. This project includes the leasing of a building to house its new corporate headquarters. The more than $1.1 million project is expected to create 85 jobs.

Total Baking Solutions, LLC has been awarded a 45 percent Job Creation Tax Credit for a five-year term as a result of the company's expansion in the City of Wilmington (Clinton County). The value of the tax credit is estimated at $123,140 over the term, and the company would be required to maintain operations at the project site for eight years. Total Baking Solutions is a leader in providing high-quality, baking-related equipment to the makers of cookies, biscuits, crackers, pet food, and other baked goods, specializing in plant operations, automation, and equipment remanufacturing. This project includes the purchase of machinery and equipment as well as leaseholder improvements. The $1.7 million project is expected to create 60 jobs.

 

The Ohio Tax Credit Authority is a five-member independent board consisting of taxation and economic development professionals from throughout the state that is responsible for reviewing and approving applications for state tax credit assistance. The Authority also has oversight responsibilities that include monitoring and reporting the progress of approved tax credit projects. The Ohio Tax Credit Authority's approval of incentives indicates the state's commitment to the company, and precedes a final decision of the company to accept or decline the tax incentives approved.
