20 Sep, 2009

The South Carolina Department of Commerce, York County and the City of Rock Hill today announced that Competition Accessories will relocate its headquarters and distribution center to Rock Hill. The $3.3 million investment is expected to generate 40 new jobs.

“We are pleased to locate our operations in Upstate South Carolina. York County provides an excellent business environment for our company to grow. The combination of a positive business climate, available labor force and top-notch market access will allow us to grow and meet increasing demand from our customers. We appreciate all the support we’ve received from state and local officials,” said Dan Conetta, general manager of Competition Accessories.

The company plans to relocate its headquarters to Rock Hill during the third quarter of this year. Competition Accessories will also create a distribution center for aftermarket motorcycle, ATV and personal watercraft accessories.

“Competition Accessories has long been a leading direct sales merchant for motorcycle parts and accessories, with customers throughout the country. The company’s decision to locate its national headquarters and distribution center in South Carolina is a strong testament that our business-friendly climate and excellent market access are working to attract new investment and jobs to our state. Thanks to the team effort of state and local officials, York County will benefit from this investment now and in the future,” said Joe Taylor, Secretary of Commerce.

Mr. Buddy Motz, chairman of York County Council said, “This company depends on a good transportation network to move their products and York County is a proven location for warehouse and logistics operations in the Charlotte region thanks in large part to the Pennies for Progress road construction and improvement program.  We welcome Competition Accessories to our area and look forward to the new jobs and investment this industry leader will provide for our community.”

“We’re excited to see this company relocate to our area. Both York County and Rock Hill provide an excellent location for new companies, both in terms of business environment and quality of life. We welcome Competition Accessories to the Rock Hill business community,” said Rock Hill City Manager Carey Smith.
