Cohn Construction has broken ground on a new 100,000-square-foot distribution center for the Fayat Group on a 30-acre site in Ridgeway. Designed to support Fayat’s North American distribution operations, the new facility will consist of 96,500 square feet of warehouse space and 3,500 square feet of office space, according to a news release. The building is being constructed of precast concrete walls and a structural steel frame with a 32-foot clear height to accommodate high pile storage.
“This groundbreaking marks the beginning of a facility that reflects the capabilities of our team,” Harris Cohn, CEO of Cohn Construction, said in the release. “Projects like this highlight what we do best — bringing value through strategic planning, quality construction, and a focused understanding of our client’s operational needs.”
Fayat Group announced its plans to invest $13.7 million in the distribution facility, a project the company said will create 75 new jobs. The France-based company has several divisions and its South Carolina facilities will serve the division that produces road construction equipment.

The groundbreaking ceremony included Gov. Henry McMaster, local officials and community leaders from Fairfield County Economic Development, along with representatives from both Cohn Construction and Fayat Group.
