TX: EnergyX Advances U.S. Lithium Production at TexAmericas Center

Apr 03, 2026
Milestone marks first step toward large-scale domestic lithium production in the Texarkana region

TexAmericas Center, which owns and operates the 5th ranked industrial park and is one of the largest advanced manufacturing, logistics and rail-served industrial parks in the United States, announced the recent commissioning of EnergyX’s Project Lonestar Lithium demonstration facility at its East campus in the Texarkana, Texas area.

The project represents a major step forward in establishing a domestic supply of battery-grade lithium, positioning the Texarkana region at the forefront of the nation’s energy transition and critical mineral production.

EnergyX’s $30 million demonstration plant has the capacity to produce 250 tons of lithium annually using its proprietary direct lithium extraction (DLE) technology. The facility serves as a key validation phase ahead of a planned commercial-scale operation that could produce up to 50,000 tons per year within the next five years.

“This is a defining milestone for EnergyX and for the future of domestic lithium production,” said Scott Norton, Executive Director and CEO of TexAmericas Center. “Their technology, investment, and longterm vision are exactly what is needed to strengthen U.S. energy independence, and we are proud that TexAmericas Center is where that work is happening.”

The March 26 commissioning event brought together industry leaders, partners, and regional stakeholders for a first look at the operational facility. The program included a CEO keynote, official remarks, a ribbon cutting ceremony, and guided tours of the plant, where attendees saw the full lithium production process from Smackover brine extraction to battery-grade output.

“The reason we are here in Texarkana and in northeast Texas is because the lithium is literally underneath our feet,” said Teague Egan, Founder and CEO of EnergyX.

EnergyX’s expansion is expected to bring continued investment and job creation to the region, with current hiring needs spanning operators, engineers, and technical roles. Workforce demand is expected to grow significantly as the company advances toward full commercial production.

By combining proprietary technology, vertically integrated operations, and access to lithium-rich resources in Texas, EnergyX is establishing a scalable model for U.S.-based lithium production. Its presence at TexAmericas Center underscores the site’s ability to support advanced manufacturing, energy innovation, and large-scale industrial growth.

TexAmericas Center played a pivotal role in bringing the EnergyX project to life. EnergyX Beta project is occurring in a 22,000 square foot former Army warehouse that has been retrofitted for the companies unique use.

From the outset, TexAmericas Center provided a ready-to-develop industrial platform—offering permitting support, existing infrastructure, existing buildings, and large-scale site readiness that significantly reduced development timelines. The team worked closely with EnergyX to navigate site selection, regulatory processes, and utility coordination, ensuring the project could move efficiently from concept to execution.

Beyond the physical site, TexAmericas Center served as a connector—aligning local, regional, and state partners to support the project. This included facilitating workforce development resources, engaging with public-sector stakeholders, and helping secure the broader ecosystem needed for long-term success.

The result is a strong example of how economic development organizations focused on speed-tooccupancy can accelerate transformative projects—by removing barriers, coordinating resources, and creating an environment where innovation can scale.

With nearly 12,000 acres and approximately 3.5 million square feet of industrial, warehouse, office, and logistics space, TexAmericas Center continues to support companies like EnergyX with the infrastructure, resources, and flexibility needed to move from demonstration to full-scale operations. For more information about TexAmericas Center and offerings, visit TexAmericasCenter.com.
