TX: Port Corpus Christi Commissioners Approve the Sale of Ingleside Facility

Port Corpus Christi Commissioners agreed Thursday, February 17, to sell the Ingleside Facility, (former U.S. Naval Station Ingleside) to Canyon Supply & Logistics, LLC except for the small craft pier and some related property sold to Flint Hill Resources.

Canyon Supply and Logistics, LLC is a special service purpose company that supports the oil and gas production companies in the Western Gulf of Mexico. Canyon will develop the industrial part of the facility for off-shore logistics for the oil and gas industry. They will work with Texas A&M System, (Ingleside Facility Master Developer) to lease the college campus part of the base as an alternative energy center and for related education activities.

Port Corpus Christi and Canyon Supply and Logistics, LLC will finalize a letter of intent for final approval at the March 8, 2011 Commission meeting. “The selection of Canyon Supply and Logistics, LLC as the buyer of former U.S. Naval Station Ingleside fits the model of the master development plan for the facility. They will be able to bring the much needed jobs for the area affected by the departure of the Navy,” said Mike Carrell, Chairman, Port Commission.

U.S. Naval Station Ingleside was designated for closure under the Base Realignment and Closure Act of 2005 resulting in the departure of the Navy by April 30, 2010. On that date, ownership of the base reverted to the Port of Corpus Christi Authority. The U.S. Naval Station Ingleside encompasses 483 acres with more than 70 state-of-the-art buildings, including: warehouse facilities, office and administrative offices, barracks, fitness and recreation facilities, a capital-class pier and wharf area, and much more. The Port has also included 433 acres of green field property bordering the base to be incorporated in the development project.
