Gov. Joe Manchin today released the following statement after learning of NGK Spark Plugs USA, Inc. decision to consolidate its spark plug manufacturing capacity in the United States to its Sissonville, West Virginia location:

“I am so pleased that NGK has decided to expand its operations right here in West Virginia. In these difficult economic times - to have this level of commitment from NGK is remarkable and truly strengthens our ability to attract future investments.

“This decision speaks volumes of the quality of our state’s workforce, our strong business climate, and it also underscores that the state is positioned in a great geographic location that helps businesses meet their goals.  Companies such as NGK help tell this state’s story the best and they are the reason why West Virginia is a great place to do business.

“NGK is one of our state’s premier auto parts suppliers and with this type of commitment; I know that they will continue to have success in the Mountain State.”
