Governor Tony Evers

Gov. Tony Evers was elected Wisconsin’s 46th governor in January 2019, having previously served as the Wisconsin Superintendent of Public Instruction for three terms. He was born in Plymouth, Wis., and received his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. After working as a schoolteacher for several years, he became a school administrator, serving as a principal and, later, district superintendent. He was appointed deputy superintendent of Public Instruction in 2001.
