ResCare Inc., the nation’s largest provider of both health and human services, selected its home city of Louisville for a new headquarters building in the ShelbyHurst Office Campus, retaining its 340 corporate jobs in the state, Gov. Matt Bevin announced.
“We are thankful that ResCare and its 340-employee local workforce will move into a new headquarters in Louisville, reaffirming its commitment to growth and success in Kentucky,” Gov. Bevin said. “In working closely with ResCare’s leadership, our economic development team was able to craft an ideal situation that meets the company’s needs and helps ensure a positive trajectory for the future. ResCare has been a tremendous corporate citizen for many years and we are excited by this latest chapter in their history.”
ResCare’s headquarters will occupy space in a new 140,000-square-foot building on North Whittington Parkway, just off Hurstbourne Parkway. NTS Development Co. plans to break ground on the $34 million project in October and aims to open it in fall 2018 when ResCare’s current building lease expires.

ResCare’s headquarters is the support center for its more than 45,000 employees in 42 states, including 1,900 in Kentucky. In that role, its operations advance the company’s mission to help people live their best lives through innovative programs, products and caregiving services.
As the largest diversified health and human services provider in the US, ResCare is working to lead the future of service and care for governments and community health across numerous high-need populations. It provides home care, services to people with disabilities, specialized high-acuity neuro-rehab in community settings, and career-center workforce services. ResCare also offers integrated care services including pharmacy, behavioral health and telecare.
Sen. Julie Raque Adams, of Louisville, said she’s glad the company will remain a contributor to Louisville’s vibrant corporate community.
“ResCare’s decision to stay in Kentucky and reinvest in Louisville means its jobs will continue benefitting the economy and the related new construction jobs and spending it creates will add new momentum,” Sen. Adams said. “I welcome this project and thank all those involved for their work to make happen.”
Rep. Jason Nemes, of Louisville, welcomed the company’s new project.
“I applaud ResCare’s commitment to the people of Louisville and surrounding communities,” said Rep. Nemes, who serves on the House Economic Development and Workforce Investment Committee. “ResCare clearly recognizes that keeping their corporate headquarters in Kentucky and continuing to invest in a pro-growth business environment like we have here in the Commonwealth is a wise decision for their company.”
To encourage the investment and help retain the company and its jobs, the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority in September approved ResCare for up to $550,000 in tax incentives through the Kentucky Enterprise Initiative Act (KEIA). KEIA allows approved companies to recoup Kentucky sales and use tax on construction costs, building fixtures, equipment used in research and development and electronic processing.
In addition, ResCare can receive resources from the Kentucky Skills Network. Through the Kentucky Skills Network, companies can receive no-cost recruitment and job placement services, reduced-cost customized training and job training incentives. In fiscal 2017, the Kentucky Skills Network provided training for more than 120,000 Kentuckians and 5,700 companies from a variety of industry sectors.
