VA: Fabricated Metal Co. to Upgrade Site, Create 120 Jobs in Lynchburg

Porter’s Group LLC, a fabricated metal products company based in Bessemer City, N.C., will establish its first Virginia operation in Lynchburg, creating 120 new jobs.

The company has acquired a manufacturing site in the city, which it will upgrade with an investment of $1.8 million. The plant will produce fabricated metal products, such as safes, and related products and parts.

Gov. Bob McDonnell approved a $300,000 grant from the Governor’s Opportunity Fund to assist Lynchburg with the project. Through its Virginia Jobs Investment Program, the Virginia Department of Business Assistance will provide funding and services to support the company’s recruitment and training activities.

Porter’s Group has been in operation since 1964. It has five locations in the Southeast. The company has a diverse customer base and competes on an international basis.
