Ted Townsend

Ted Townsend, the Chairman of the Board for Life Science Tennessee, serves the University of Memphis as Chief Economic Development and Government Relations Officer. Previously, he was Deputy Commissioner & Chief Operating Officer of the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development, holding several positions over seven years. During his time at the TNECD, more than 1,100 Tennessee projects were announced, committing 155,000 new jobs and more than $32 billion in private-sector investment. Before joining TNECD, Ted was co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of arGentis Pharmaceuticals.
