Rick Homans

New Mexico's role in space commercialization puts Rick Homans at the forefront of this industry. Mr. Homans was appointed, New Mexico Economic Development Department Secretary & Chairman of the New Mexico Spaceport Authority, by Governor Bill Richardson to establish the state as the launch pad for the “second space age”, an era when the private space industry will make space accessible and affordable. Mr. Homans is coordinating the state’s plans to build the world’s first purpose-built commercial spaceport for personal spaceflight, a $225 million dollar project. He has also led the state’s efforts to attract new space companies to New Mexico, including Virgin Galactic, Starchaser, UP Aerospace, Rocket Racing League and the annual X-Prize Cup.
