Building prosperity here in this region began in the 1980s when the state of South Carolina launched an effort to diversify the state’s economy with pro-active, pro-business initiatives. In 1996, the SouthernCarolina Alliance was formed as a critical connector, linking industry and governmental leaders at the state, national and international levels. Now we are leading across sectors, including automotive, aerospace, advanced composites, distribution, forest products and alternative energy. Located between Charleston, South Carolina and Savannah, Georgia, the Southern Carolina region is made up of seven counties; Allendale, Bamberg, Barnwell, Beaufort, Colleton, Hampton and Jasper.
